Elderly Pet Organization Provides Assistance to At-Risk Senior Pets

SCITUATE, R.I. - AstroBug -- The Elderly Pet Organization, a 501C3 nonprofit organization located in Scituate, Rhode Island, recently announced a newly funded grant program to help at-risk senior pets. According to statistics, more than 2.6 million pets were surrendered in the US in 2020 and over 183,000 pets were euthanized, many of which were senior pets that pet owners were not prepared to care for.

Large dogs over age 6 and small dogs and cats over the age of 7 are considered senior pets. The Elderly Pet Organization's mission is to provide information and education about senior pets, and to help at-risk senior pets. The organization recently announced a program that is available to individuals who may have difficulty caring for their senior pet. Assistance is available for pet insurance, medical supplies, grooming supplies, or pet bedding, based on eligibility outlined on their website.
