EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. - AstroBug -- The Good Shepherd Humane Society, Inc. is proud to announce it has been awarded a $41,000 Preventative Care grant from Banfield Foundation. This generous funding will support the launch of a series of mobile free pet vaccine clinics, which aim to provide essential care for 2,500 dogs and cats through 2025. The mobile clinics will begin in March and travel to underserved and in-need communities across the region, thanks to partnerships with other local organizations.
"We are incredibly grateful to Banfield Foundation for their strong support of this important initiative," said Cole Wakefield, Executive Director of Good Shepherd Humane Society. "Many people deeply love and value their pets; however, even the most devoted pet owners can struggle to provide basic veterinary care—especially during challenging times. This grant helps us reach those who need it most, ensuring dogs and cats in our community receive the essential preventative care they deserve. We also appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with other organizations, building valuable relationships and supporting the health of our community."

"Expanding access to care across rural and under-resourced communities is a huge focus for Banfield Foundation," said Kim Van Syoc, Executive Director, Banfield Foundation. "In many places, we know lack of transportation and geographic isolation is the biggest barrier to essential veterinary care. Working with Good Shepherd means that critical care can be mobilized to uniquely meet the needs of pets and pet owners across Arkansas."
The free pet vaccine clinics will start up in March 2025. Details on the clinic schedule and how to sign up will be available in mid-February. Community members are encouraged to visit Good Shepherd Humane Society's Facebook page or www.goodshepherdhumane.org to stay updated on clinic dates, locations, and registration information.
