Pet travel experts gather pet policies at all major hotel chains into comprehensive guide
BISBEE, Ariz. - AstroBug -- As the number of people taking summer road trips resumes to pre-pandemic levels, many are now even more reluctant to leave their pets behind. While one challenging aspect of traveling with a pet is finding a pet friendly hotel, GoPetFriendly.com, a web site dedicated to pet friendly travel, is making that easier this summer.
GoPetFriendly.com's travel experts released their choices for the top five hotels with the best pet policies. The list is part of the Summer 2022 Hotel Pet Policy Guide (please see link below) which includes pet policies at nearly 150 hotel chains across the U.S. and Canada.
GoPetFriendly.com, which has been advising pet owners on travel since 2009, dug into hotel pet policies and ranked them, based on the criteria most important to pet owners like affordable pet fees, how many pets are permitted in a room and more.

The overwhelming winner as the Best Hotel Chain for Traveling with Pets is Kimpton Hotels, part of IHG. According to the GoPetFriendly.com experts, the hotel chain "is absolutely the most pet friendly hotel chain in North America. They accept all pets, whether furry, feather, or scaly of any size for no pet fee. What hotel pet policy could be better than that?"
Four other chains topped GoPetFriendly.com's list:
Best Western Hotel Group charges a pet fee per room instead of per pet.
Red Roof Inn allows pets – including cats – to stay for free.
Drury Hotels has a very clear and comprehensive hotel pet policy.
Extended Stay Suites provides a standard pet policy across all their locations.
Beyond ranking the top five, GoPetFriendly.com also researched hotel chains in the U.S. and Canada to determine their pet policies to include in the guide.
Travelers can easily find their favorite hotel (listed in alphabetical order) to learn about their policy and make decisions based on their needs.

The guide also notes information about each chains' rewards programs, so travelers can determine the pet friendly hotel chain where they'd like to accumulate loyalty points.
"This guide is truly comprehensive and compiled from hours and hours of research into the most up-to-date hotel pet policies," explains Amy Burkert, creator of GoPetFriendly.com, which has been helping pet owners travel enjoyably with their pets for more than 12 years. "Policies continue to evolve so having this guide at a travelers' fingertips can be a huge time (and headache!) saver," she adds.
