Inspiration, wisdom, and beauty that inspires, comforts, and shares love
AUSTIN, Texas - AstroBug -- From a native Austin voice, Aaric Eisenstein teaches Jewish wisdom seen in the beauty of birds. His new book, The Avian Rebbe Takes Flight: Volume 1: Central Texas is available now. This full-color photography book, written from the depths of Covid-19, offers perceptive insights that motivate and offer comfort in a time of unprecedented uncertainty and challenges to humanity.
Like so many of us, Eisenstein picked up birding and photography with the onset of Covid. When it hit hard and all our indoor spaces were either closed or dangerous, he took to the parks for his own mental health. Learning to use his new camera to see birds' beauty created a break from the stress and horror of the pandemic. The book documents this journey.

The book collects 52 of Eisenstein's bird photographs taken in Central Texas together with a "drash" for each photo. A drash is a short teaching of Jewish wisdom. The premise is that Godly beauty can be found by looking at the world with a conscious lens.
The Avian Rebbe Takes Flight is built on the author's Jewish foundation, but these lessons and insights speak to all faith backgrounds and communities. These wisdom teachings are an antidote to darkness, and this book seeks to create a bridge of understanding across all people.
"This book captures the beauty and wonder that birds inspire. After soaking in the rich color of each photo and the spectacular language of each reflection, I am reminded that it is no wonder bird imagery finds its way all over our Jewish and Christian Biblical witness." - Rev. Hilary Marchbanks, Senior Pastor, Saint John's United Methodist Church in Austin, TX

The book takes readers on a tour of their beloved Central Texas parks. Eisenstein brings us insights into not only the incredible diversity of gorgeous birds with whom we share our home but also a way of drawing even deeper spiritual connections. Truly this is a book inspired by the tradition of J. Frank Dobie, Roy Bedichek, and Walter Prescott Webb.
"The Avian Rebbe Takes Flight is a delightful book that combines the author's passions of birding, bird photography and Judaism. The photographs are beautiful and the lesson that accompanies each photograph is beautifully selected and well related to the lesson. Many birders feel the spiritual component to their birding as does the author. - Frances Cerbins - Director at Large, Texas Ornithological Society & Past-President, Travis Audubon Society
The author is available for interviews. Book details and imagery are available at www.AvianRebbe.com
